UPDATES
7 March 2010 - The Base Color and Shade definitions are up, and I've been slowly adding further information and images. I'm still working on how I'm going to present the Genetic Codes to you guys, since so many are unknown, and written differently. That will be more of a long term project since I am also writting out codes for this project, a research paper, the Horse Art RPG, as well as the DA Equine Color community. I'm going to try and make them all the same, but it will take some time.

6 March 2010
- The generator is up and running. While it doesn't have every color combination in the world, it does have a great deal of them. I started the Vocabulary today, but alas, I've been working on this all through the night and it's now 4am. So I'm going to bed X_X.

5 March 2010 - I've decided to add already diluted base colors under the Base Color option. This will cause a double up of some genes when paired with the Dilution option. If this is the case, you can refresh again, or consider it a Homozygous Carrying horse. For example: Amber Champagne + Champagne, then this horse would be homozygous for the Champagne gene. Also under the Dilution option, users of this generator have a higher chance of seeing Non-Dilute, because some dilute genes are already included in the Base Color.  A note on Cream and Pearl, Pearl is found on the same Locus as Cream, so a horse could not be Double Cream (CcrCcr) + Pearl (Cpr), or Double Pearl (CprCpr)+ Cream (Ccr). It can hower be Cream + Pearl (CcrCpr), Double Cream (CcrCcr), or Double Pearl (CprCpr), all of which look almost identicle. Additionally I've altered some of these colors to occur more often then others.

Dilution
Champagne - This is a Dominate gene, so a horse only needs one dose to cause the Dilution of both hair and skin. The skin is a freckeled pigmented pink all over the body, but most noticible on the head and between the hing legs. This gene will effect both red and black pigment and dilute them. Check out this website for more information on it.

Cream - In a single dose Cream dilutes Red to Gold, and has very little effect if any at all on Black Pigment. Typically red manes and tails are turned White with the cream gene, however there have been some instances where a Palomino horse has a gold mane and tail as well. While in a single dose the skin color remains unchanged, in a double dose it changed to pink and red hair is changed to Cream, while black hair is given an off tan to light brown color. Check out this site to learn more about Double Dilutes.

Dun - This dilution is probally one of the most well known, but least understood of the common dilutions (but that's another story). It is called a dilution gene, because it will dilute the basic body of a horses coat, most noticible on Black, but it even effects Red as well. Other primitive factors that arise from the gene are dorsal striping, and leg baring, there are also a number of other physical features but it's not always seen. Check out this website for more information on Dun.

Pearl -

Mushroom - Is a new dilution currently under research, and is similar to Silver, except it dilutes Red pigment instead. So far it has only been noted on Chestnut based horses, and turns their coat to a light dirty cream to a deep chocolate. Check out this website for its discovery.

Silver - The Silver Dilution is a dominate gene and only effects Balck pigment by changing it to brown on the body and Silver/Flaxen in the mane and tail. Check out this website for more information.
