BLOCK PARTY BLOW OUT
BY BARA OF CELTIC ROSE

First off, the VHR Block Party was a great success. Secondly, please excuse my 5am rambles, I’ve been up since 9am yesterday morning and I am about to take a 3 hour trip back home. The Art work above was drawn by myself, but colored by our contest winner, Hawk. For those that may be reading this a little late, the Block Party was a special event held the last week of December 2008. We hosted all kinds of trivia and games, along with over 300 prizes.
Congratulations to Brood, Twit, and Cloe, who get to choose the next VHR horse breeds, so keep your eyes pealed. I also want to applaud DottieDottie for conquering those dreadful Spotted Mules in our Roll Off contest.
Everyone is familiar with the Guess the Breed contests held in the forums, but this was the first time we had a Guess the Color, and it was a great success! I’d venture to say that some people learned a little something new that night. Khol and Brood were tied 4:4 that night, with Immortal and Badger tied 3:3.
Little Miss Sarabi was non-stop winning throughout the contests different events. But she wasn’t the only hard hitters to keep an eye out for. Some one might want to lock Twit and TC away when it comes to Trivia Blow Out next year.
All in all, it was a terrific event! And I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. I wish you all the best for this upcoming year, and I’m already conjuring up some goodies for 2009, so look out VHR. Maybe the other Orbis Games will follow suit.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a magnificent holiday! Each year the community around our games continues to evolve and amaze me. With the efforts of some players and volunteers, this was our finest year end exit in my opinion.  I am sorry I did not do holiday gifts for all the players, but that did not slow down any of the fun I hope.  Thank you to those who stepped in and still made it festive!
I wanted to thank all the wonderful players for giving me such a wonderful job. I love the title of Game Developer, I love to create fun for everyone to enjoy. I may lack and slack in the customer support department sometimes, but for the next year if we keep growing such a dedicated wonderful group of players like your selves- that may change. My wonderful husband has stepped up to take care of PayPal, which has been a help and that much more energy for me to manage more fun things!
In the household world of Orbis Games, we are in a mellow time, and I wish to polish up a lot of our current games early in the year. One of the games, that a few of you might have stumbled on, is Legendera. It is complex, provocative and very unique, I am not talking about a bottle of wine, I am talking about Legendera. This next year I want to expand upon it and finish some of the uncompleted parts. It is I hope as fun to play as it is to build. You start out as a trader on the ancient silk road, and adventure from one city to the next on a quest of glory and riches. You can help villages, or hurt villages, rival other guilds or become part of a guild, or even start one! And if you can't get away from managing your animals, well you will have your caravan animals to look after, train and reproduce. Check out our progress at Legendera.com at any time- and feel free to sign up and play.
2009 may be tough for many people and families in this weird economy. But there are a few things to remember to keep your head up for. One is, we still have pets and critters to bring us joy and happiness. My family never had cash when I grew up, and I asked for little. We still lived like kings in my opinion! I had so many critters to take care of, play with, and bring me joy I never got sad. I had to work to buy my own horses, and car and the big things.  Money buys us toys sure, but it is really the simple things in life, and what mother earth and beyond shows us, that are the truly amazing and wonderful things. If your family is fighting or you are feeling down and out, go to the backyard or a plot of nature somewhere, and watch the microworlds. Build structures with twigs and woodchips, pave paths with a stick. Make a leaf boat in a puddle for a special insect, just be sure to help it out before it drowns! Create your own world. Creating worlds is a lot of fun! That is all I want to do! And I never grew too old for fantasy, obviously. Each night before I sleep I enter my own world and settle in to it, where I am what ever I want to be. And keep enjoying some of my internet worlds as much as you wish as well. I will keep them up through these tough times at all costs. And thank you for enjoying these worlds, as that allows me to improve on them, and create more. Have a very happy new year everyone, and don't care about the economy- if anything, it brings adventure!
